Yumthang valley lies in the north Sikkim and its district hear quarter is in Mangam. Yumthang, at the height of 11,800 ft. (3564 m) & 145 kms from Gangtok, is a paradise for nature lovers with a fascinating blend of flora & fauna and breathtaking scenic grandeur. Yumthang, is a vast expanse of colorful grass-carpet to the horizon Covered with rhododendron shrubs and trees, the entire valley erupts into a riot of colors in May.Tourists need special permits to visit North Sikkim beyond Mangan. All these make North Sikkim a heaven in earth. A typical North Sikkim tour starts from Gangtok then via Kabi Lungtsok 23 km, Phodong 40 km, Mangan 67 km, Singhik 72 km, Chungthang 98 km, Lachung 117 km to 141 km away from Yumthang. On the way lies Singhba Rhododendron Sanctuary and Kanchandzonga National Park. SNT buses from Gangtok leaves at 8-00 and 13-00 hr and reaches Mangan via Phodong and going still 5 km further to Singhik. Indians are free to move upto Tung bridge via Mangan-Shinghik , but beyond north of Tung restricted area permit is required.

From Kathmandu, take the one hour flight to Bhadrapur (the nearest Nepalese airport to Darjeeling), drive to Kakarvitta (Nepal/Indian boarder 34km), to Silguri (36km) and to Darjeeling (77 km, about 2 ½ hrs drive). Darjeeling is also connected by road with Sikkim (120km) and Bhutan (200km). Darjeeling is about 90 km from Bagdogra, the nearest airport, where schedule flights operate from New Delhi, Calcutta and Guwahati The nearest rail heads are Siliguri and New Jalpaiguri (88km) which are connected to Calcutta, New Delhi, Guwahati and other major cities in India.

Itinerary

Day 1: New Jalpaiguri/Bagdogra to Gangtok

It is approximately 156 kms and takes around 4 hours drive to Sikkim. Transfer to Hotel. Free time at leisure and rest.

Day 2: Gangtok 7 point sightseeing.

Your guide will receive at 10 am in your hotel. Drive to Lachen (120km). On the way stop for sightseeing spots like Tashi View Point, Kabi Lungtsok, Naga Waterfall and The Confluence of Lachen Chu & Lachung Chu at Chungthang. Lunch will be served at Namok (A Wayside Inn). The whole journey takes about 6-7 hours drive. By evening you reach at Lachen and your trip for the first day ends. 

Day 3: Gangtok – Tsomgo Lake – back to Gangtok.

It is about 40 kms drive from Gangtok . The lake remains frozen during the winters.In the month of Dec & Jan you can play in the snow or even walk across the meandering frozen lake.

Day 4: Gangtok – Lachung.

After breakfast leave for Lachen Monastery and drive back to Chungthang and visit the Holy Rock. Tea & snacks will be served at Chungthang. Move to Lachung where you come across some beautiful waterfalls. Check in at our resort (SNOWLION MOUNTAIN RESORT one of the best hotels of the North Sikkim. Night halt in Lachung.

Day 5: Lachung – Yumthang – back to Lachung.

After breakfast leave for YUMTHANG (The Ultimate Paradise). Lush green valleys and high peaked mountains all around you. In April/May/June the valley is struck by the riots of colours with Rhododendron, Alpine & Primula flowers. Yumthang is renowned for its Hot Spring, which is rich in sulphur. In Nov/Dec/Jan you can enjoy the scenic and the panoramic views of the valleys and surrounding mountain ranges with snow-capped peaks. Leave Yumthang and move to Lachung for lunch at 2 pm. After lunch visit Lachung Monastery, Cottage Industry & Waterfall. Night halt at Lachung.

Day 6: Lachung – Gangtok

usual. Breakfast will be served as usual. After breakfast leave for Gangtok. On the way if the weather is clear you may get to see Mighty Khangchendzonga from Singhik. Lunch will be served at the same hotel at Namok. After lunch visit Phodong Monastery on the way to Gangtok. Reach Gangtok.

Day 7:Gangtok – Rest/Shopping.

Day 8:Gangtok – New Jalpaiguri/Bagdogra tour concludes.
