Overview

Trek to the base of Mt. Everest had been nominated as the best adventure trek in Nepal by Lonely Planet and National Geographic Adventure .Everest Base Camp Trek is a ‘must-do’ for all intrepid trekkers and adventurers. Trek to Sherpa Villages such as discovering Thame, Khumjung , Syangboche , Namche Bazaar,and Tengboche villages are very famous sherpa village to discover in this trek. During the trek to Sherpa village offers awesome views above 8000 mountain inclusive Everest, cho oyu and lhotse. The trail follows the course of the Dudh Koshi (River of Milk) gradually climbing through forest of rhododendron and magnolia, pine forest, Sherpa villages and Buddhist Monasteries. 

Trekking in the Everest regrion is incomplete without being influenced by the culture of Sherpa of the Khumbu region. Ever since the first successful ascent of Mt. Everest (8848m) by Sir Edmund Hillary the whole community benefited from the influx of tourist who come to enjoy the unique landscape of the high mountain that has been the subject of many books and research. Named it, all famous explorers and mountaineers have traded the path. Ever since the peak XV was spotted as the highest point on earth the whole region came into international focus.  Though the mountain is named Sagarmatha by the Nepalese and Chomolongma by the Tibetan (Chinese) yet the name of Sir George Everest after whom the name was given has become synonymous with the peak itself and the region. After the British Swiss made 2 serious attempt to reach the summit; in 1952 Raymond Lambert with Tenzing reached 8500 meter in their second attempt. As a result they prepared unwittingly Tenzing Sherpa for the British expedition to help them summit the peak of Everest in 1953 When Sir Edmund Hillary created a record for the first time in the history of human being. Since then climbing Everest have kept on increasing every year, and hundreds of tourist flock to enjoy the majestic Himalayas .

Itinerary

Day 1. Fly to Lukla (2800m). Trek to Phakding (2810m):
A small airstrip high above the Dudh Kosi valley. After meeting your trekking staff and porters at Lukla, your trek begins by descending to Chaunrikharka and heading up the Dudh Kosi valley to Phakding, Phakding is a nice place to stop for acclimatization.

Day 2. Trek to Namche Bazar (3445m) (4/5 hrs) O/N at Lodge
The trail follows Dudh Koshi river. After Jorsale the trail makes steep winding path to Namche bazar. Namchebazar is a commercial center of Khumbu region. It is an important stop for trekkers and mountaineers on way to base camps of Everest and many other mountains in that area. It is home of Sherpa ethnic group. Their traditional occupation used to be yak herders and traders. Now due to change in geopolitical condition they have changed their occupation to tourism. They are well known as trekking and mountaineering guides and widely used as high altitude porters by expedition teams. Their religion is Buddhist.

Day 3. Trek to syangboche (3810m): 3 hours O/N at Lodge
After breakfast make gradual ascent to the airstrip at Syangboche. It is about two hours easy walk. Visit to the Everst View Hotel for panoramic view of Mt. Everest and Amadamlam is reccomended. You may visit Khunde and Khumjung villages beyond Syangboche to know the Sherpa way of life, many mountaineers and climber were born in this village, retrace tail via Everest View Hotel. Return to Syanboche .

Day 4. In Syangboche or Namache Bazzar - O/N at Lodge
On this day you can just relax seeing the mighty himalaya to your palate or visit Namche Bazaar or Khunde or Khumjung more in depth.

Day 5. Lukla (2800 m) 6-7 hours - O/N at Lodge
Your final day trekking follows the Dudh Kosi back down to Lukla. The last evening in the mountains is the ideal opportunity for a farewell party with the sherpa guides and porters, retrace trail to Lukla

Day 6. Fly back Kathmandu- 45 minutes - transfer to hotel
Fly to Kathmandu by early morning flight, transfer to Hotel.

Note: The schedule stops as shown above are a guideline only. It may change due to logistic reason and other condition like weather, etc. that are beyond our control. Flight to remote mountain airstrip like Lukla is subject to weather and technical condition. All flights are in early morning. In winter the thick fog in Kathmandu airport in the morning may delay flight to and from Lukla. Trek to Everest base camp is a popular trek. There are several good quality lodge accommodation on the trail. Two night before and three night after the trek in Kathmandu is suggested to allow for flight delay to and from Lukla. Please note there is no refund for unused service.

We advise all participants not to expect western standard of comfort, lodges have basic but good enough sleeping bed. Using these simple lodgings allows us to offer what for many, is a lifetime dream at an affordable price.For those who wish to have attached bath and toilet facilities, should let us know for special arrangement at extra cost.
