Day 1. Fly to Lukla (2800m) and trek to Phakding:
Transfer to airport. Fly by small 16 seat twin otter aircraft to Lukla airstrip. The flight duration is about 45 minutes. As you fly over the mountain terrain you get to see magnificent view of the Himalayan range to the north. You can see the magnificient view of Langtang, Gauri Shanker, Numbur, menglungtse and finally Everest. After a short stop at the airstrip the trek begins with a short descent to the main trail up the Dudh Koshi river valley. The trail descends from Lukla to join the main trail near the village of Chaurikharka. Cross the river and stay for the night at Phakding. It is a short day walk of about 3 hour.
Day 2. Trek to Namche Bazaar (3445 m):
From Phakding the trail continues north up the Dudh Koshi Valley until the village of Banker is reached at 2700 meters. After 2 hour walk along the Dudh Kosi valley the trail gradually climbs up to Monjo and Jorsale where you will stop for lunch. All along this part of the trail you pass several small villages through rhododendron forest, magnolia trees and giant firs trees. In early fall and late spring seasons the flowers on this section make your walk on the trail a pleasant experience. On the trail you can see beautiful view of Thamserku (6618m) and Kusum Kanguru (6370m). These are prominent peaks seen from the trail along Dudh Koshi river. After Jorsale you enter Sagarmatha national park. The trail from Jorsale become steep all the way to Namche bazaar. It would take about 3 hour to reach Namche Bazar. As you climb, you enjoy our first views of Everest (8848m), Nuptse (7879m) and Lhotse (8383m). In the evening you may take rest or walk around the small bazar.
Day 3. Trek to Syangboche (3810m) and visit Khunde & Khumjung villages:
After breakfast make a gradual walk up to the hill to Syangboche. You should allow about 1 ½ hours to reach the top where there is an airstrip for small 6 seat aircraft. Horses are available for those who find the steep hill walk quite difficult (not included in the price). From the airport at Syangboche it takes about 15 minutes gradual walk to reach the lodge. On this day you get to see breathtaking views of Himalayas including Everest (8450m). The view of Amadablam looms large infront of you; it is a fantastic sight. You can also see close up view of other lofty himalayan peaks. In the afternoon visit Khunde and Khumjung (3810 m) villages which are located about an hour walk from Syangboche. At Syangboche you may visit the Japanese built luxury hotel if time permit.
Day 4. Trek to Manjo (2800 m):
After breakfast descend the trail back to Namche Bazar and to Dudh Koshi. Continue to retrace the trail that descend to Monjo. On the way to Monjo you may visit some of the small monasteries. There is also a Bddhist monastery (gompa) at Manjo located about 10 minute from the village.
Day 5. Trek to Lukla (2800 m):
The trail continues down the Dudh Koshi valley through sherpa villages of Banker, Phakding, Ghat and Chaurikharka before making the short climb to Lukla. Stay overnight in Lukla.
Day 6. Fly to Kathmandu:
The schedule flight to Kathmandu leaves early in the morning. The flight may be delayed due to fog in Kathmandu. The flight to Kathmandu is spectacular as it seemingly drops down at the edge of the airstrip before gaining the altitude that unfolds poanoramic view of the grqandeur of the Himalayan range. Upon arrival at the airport you will be provided transfer to your hotel.
Note: Due to weather and other technical reason the flight to and from Lukla can be delayed. Please allow at least 2 nights in Kathmandu after the trek.
